Graffiti Sketches
Graffiti Sketches
First things first, what is graffiti? Graffiti pertains to pictures or letterings that are painted, scrawled, or scraped on a property. Seeing that it is a form of art which is illustrated mostly in public properties, some people view graffiti as vandalism. Besides the materials used in graffiti, most of the messages communicated are social and political. This is another reason why graffiti is not welcomed with open arms.
Moral standards aside, graffiti make up for some good artwork. There are even a number of museums which dedicate a room or space for graffiti art alone. This is where graffiti sketches come in. Creating graffiti sketches prepares you for the big thing. Follow these three tried-and-tested tips and ask your friends and family if the sketch is good enough to be on a bridge or a wall somewhere in your area.
1. Choose a subject.
This shouldn’t be a problem. There is a whole world out there, images are everywhere. Of course, this does not mean that you should put everything in view in your sketch. Having a theme helps. Also, a common subject is easier to draw than a particular one. For example, an image of a woman is simpler to produce than trying to duplicate a picture of Angelina Jolie.
2. Make sure that the lines are thick and bold.
In case you are wondering why you have to do this, it’s for easy viewing. Graffiti sketches are not done in an 8’ x 11’ paper. At the very least, graffiti sketches use poster boards. The fatter and bolder your lines are the better. Do not forget this piece of advice especially if the graffiti sketch you have in mind includes plenty of texts.
3. The color white is your enemy.
Do not leave a space untouched. Be certain that you have every inch of the property covered. Use colors, shadows, and shading. Otherwise, another person may come up to your graffiti and do a little art of his own.
